BBC Electric Proms 2009

We've had a brilliant week at this year's Electric Proms. Starting with Robbie and ending with Smokey Robinson, we've seen some amazing performances. There's still time to check out the BBC's website to see the performances. If you didn't see it you should definitely watch Doves and the London Bulgarian Choir.

Aled & I

Here's a pic of a Songs of Praise which we've just recorded in Port Sunlight in The Wirral. It's a photo of myself and Aled Jones. I assume you can tell who's who. It was a great couple of days and we achieved a lot. Here's to the next one.

Shakespeare anyone?

We've been really busy preparing for a great shoot at the Globe theatre in London, where we're just about to shoot Love's Labour's Lost for Cinemas and DVDs. It's a complex operation and it's lucky that we have an amazing group of camera operators who have done work like this in the past.

We've got 2 chances to get it right, but the first time we look at it may have to be transmitted (if the weather is bad on our second show). It should be fun.

Music, Music, Music

We're still working hard on everything music over here. Many of us have been involved in the usual summer of Promenade Concerts, we're preparing for the Reading Festival, the next Evil Scarecrow music video and a few other BBC music projects which are very secret. We'll only be able to tell you about them after they've been completed.

So, keep watching your TV and you'll see plenty of our music coverage on there.

New People. New Services

We've been working hard in the background on things.

We now offer free advice on how to get your outside broadcast up and running. We'll answer any questions you have. We know about the latest HD fibre cameras, jimmy jibs, steadicams and operators. And what about facilities? We know the strengths (and weaknesses) of each OB company.

There are now even more people on our crew list, with just a selected number online. We've now got the capacity to crew the largest of OBs in the country with quality people.

Exciting times.

New EX3 Camera Now Available

We've done it. We've started investing in new kit to make music videos and other short films when we're not working in the multi-camera world. After much deliberation we've got a Sony EX3. It's becoming the standard camera for low-medium budget work because of Sony's Cine Alta technology. The result are superb. We've already booked in a couple of music promos using this camera, so we'll post the results once they're finished.
